Helping Women Find Their Voice, Strength, and Self-Trust
Kimberly Rudy, LCSW
Anxiety Therapy for Women in San Francisco & Throughout California
Hi, I'm Kimberly Rudy, LCSW
For over 21 years, I've had the privilege of supporting women through anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I believe therapy can be a place to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with your own strength and inner wisdom.
Why I Became a Therapist
People sometimes ask how I became a therapist. The answer goes back to when I was young and going through one of the hardest periods of my life. During a time when my mother was in crisis, a school counselor showed me an extraordinary level of care and concern, going far beyond what was expected to make sure I was okay.
Kimberly Rudy, LCSW (#70251) California. I provide anxiety therapy in San Francisco in person for women and online therapy in California.
It wasn't something she had to do. In fact, it wasn't really part of her job. Yet she went out of her way to offer support during a difficult time and made me feel seen, cared about, and important when I needed it most. The impact of her compassion and willingness to show up for me stayed with me long after the crisis had passed and ultimately changed the direction of my life.
Her kindness and genuine concern showed me how powerful it can be when someone feels truly seen and knows that their pain matters.
It was a powerful reminder that people often need more than advice—they need understanding, encouragement, and someone who is willing to sit with them through difficult moments.
That experience gave me an even deeper appreciation for women and all that they often carry. At a young age, I saw firsthand how much strength it can take to keep moving forward during some of life's hardest moments.
Over the years, that appreciation has only grown. I continue to be inspired by the women I work with and their ability to keep moving forward through life's challenges. Even when they feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure of themselves, I often see strengths in them that they have trouble seeing in themselves.
Today, what continues to inspire me most is seeing women reconnect with themselves and trust themselves more deeply.
My Training and Approach
Over the years, that early experience has continued to shape how I show up as a therapist. I believe healing often begins when people feel safe enough to be themselves, share their struggles without judgment, and recognize that they don't have to carry everything alone.
For more than two decades, I have supported women navigating anxiety, trauma, and life transitions across community mental health, residential programs, domestic violence services, and private practice settings.
I earned my Master of Social Work from San Francisco State University and completed IFS-informed training through the IFS Institute's six-month Circle program, as well as certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), IFS-informed therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and mind-body techniques.
What It's Like to Work With Me
Therapy with me is warm, genuine, and conversational.
While we may talk about difficult experiences, sessions aren't heavy all the time. Clients are often surprised that we laugh together, even while discussing hard things.
I'm down-to-earth in how I work. I'll ask questions, share observations, help you identify patterns, and support you in making sense of experiences that may feel confusing or overwhelming.
Most importantly, therapy is a space where you don't have to carry everything alone.
At the heart of my work is a deep belief that women carry incredible resilience — even during times when life feels overwhelming. Therapy can be a place where you reconnect with that strength and begin creating a life that feels more authentic and aligned with who you truly are.
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a vulnerable step, and it’s completely okay if you’re unsure where to begin.
If this resonates with you, I invite you to reach out so we can talk.

Our first session is really about getting to know each other. I want to hear what brought you in, what you have been carrying, and what you are hoping to feel or experience differently. There is no pressure to share everything at once. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, not overwhelmed.
-
That is a fair question, and I think the best way to find out is to talk. I offer a free consultation so you can get a sense of how I work before committing to anything. If I am not the right fit, I will do my best to help you find someone who is. Your comfort and care come first.

I don't accept insurance, but I can provide you with a monthly receipt (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I'm happy to answer any questions about how this works.
